Monday 13th August
Meet you at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport at 9 am. Those who arrive in Helsinki by ferry or by train are picked up at the central station or at the harbour in time. Please let us know where and when!
Departure by bus to Nuuksio National Park in Espoo . We will hear about Finnish farm forestry, sustainable use of forests, and “everyman´s rights” in nature. Unforgettable lunch by a campfire.
Departure to the Farmers union´s estate Kettula, by the lake Suomusjärvi. We will spend the evening in a relaxed atmosphere listening to the topics of Finnish agriculture, enjoying smoke sauna and having dinner. We are hosted by Mr Juha Marttila, the President of the Union and other Union experts.
Accomodation in Härkälä manor house and Lamminniemi welfare center in Somero.
Tuesday 14th August
Finnish breakfast in Härkälä manor.
Departure to farms – please choose your favorite of three alternatives
1) Pig farm: Healthiest pig in the world - how do Finns do it?
2) Dairy farm: Speeding up the cattle breeding in Finland and other Nordic countries
3) Arable farm: How to use oats in creative ways: improving the human health, export, fodder, et al.
Meet the farmers and have a chat with them. Short presentations by a pig vet, a cattle genetics expert and a grain expert.
During the bus ride, we will hear about the nutrient usage in Finland and new solutions for preventing phosphorus leaching from agriculture by Yara.
Lunch at the head quarters of Raisio Group in the town of Raisio. Raisio Group is an international expert in plant-based nutrition.
Our last stop before leaving Finland is either Moomin World or the old wooden city of Naantali, with plenty of unique shopping opportunities.
At 8 pm we will step on board to m/s Isabella in Turku Harbour. We will enjoy a delicious dinner while we slide through the breathtaking views of Finnish archipelago. Live music, dancing and shopping until late hours. Don´t miss it!
Wednesday, 15th August
Good morning Stockholm!
NOTE! IF YOU WANT TO VISIT THE PIG OR THE DAIRY FARM, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO VISIT ANY OTHER ANIMAL FARMS DURING 48 HOURS BEFORE VISITING THE FARM IN FINLAND.
If you are attending the executive committee meeting on the August 15th at 10 am, you’ll be in time in Stockholm. The ferry arrives in Stockholm at 6.30 a.m. and there is transportation arranged to the congress site. You can also book a flight from Turku to Stockholm on Tuesday afternoon on your own cost. Please let us know, if you need help with the arrangements.
